What are RBM and RCS and how do they work?

Rich Communication Services (RCS) is the next generation of SMS and MMS. Thanks to the RCS channel features, you can elevate classic text messages to the level of Messenger or WhatsApp.

RBM messages (Rich Business Messaging) are designed to work like any other chat app. For Android phones, the function is natively supported, so the addressee does not need to install any additional software on the phone — the RBM will receive the message just like a classic SMS. However, RBM messages are sent and received over the Internet via the RCS communication protocol, which runs in the background.

What does RBM allow you to send?

RBM allows you to send rich media content including images, videos, carousels, interactive buttons, and cards. You can also include quick reply options, map locations, calendar events, and payment links — all directly within the messaging experience.

Which devices support RBM?
